Hot Dogs, Rain and a Mini Statue of Liberty

A spell of old-time Americana greeted throngs of Americans and Muscovites similar who swarmed the majestic grounds of the Kuskovo estate on Saturday for the American Chamber of Commerce's annual Fourth of July celebration.

Decorated out in balloons and flags and adding a mini Statue of Liberty to its collection of busts and monuments, the generous estate hosted thousands who braved breezy, cloudy weather and filled free buses from the metro to fete U.S. Independence Day.

The central lawn twisted into a food court lined with dozens of restaurant stalls, as the tormenting smell of hot dogs and grilled shashliks swirled across the grass, where picnickers gnawed on corn on the cob and sipped cold beer. A sound stage set up at the last part of the patio featured live music, including the rock band Voskreseniye.

Homeowners Break Out Streamers, Flags, Balloons For Contest

Together with all the patriotism lining the parade route, homeowners in Travis also put their pride on display for the yearly home decorating contest.

Inhabitants have been decorating their homes and yards in Americana to go with the annual march for the past 97 years.

This year's top rewards go to the Metzger family at 20 Meredith Avenue.

From balloons to streamers and flags in all shapes and sizes, parade organizers say picking a patriotic winner is one hard job.

Popping Balloons on Sunday Mornings

The first Airport of the East, launch site of The Berlin Airlift, made famous with flying legends, Howard Hughes, Amelia Earhart, Charles Lindberg, John Glenn, "Wrong Way" Corrigan, gives way to dense, empty runways, and now makes home to Model plane and car enthusiasts and evening astronomy club fascinations. Yet near Jamaica Bay, where Police chopper pilots guide and thunder overhead, concealed to others, soar different flights of fancy, arrows.

Grounded Balloons ready for Breakfast

(OTTUMWA) A B and B weekend, balloons and breakfast churned out to be breakfast and no balloons racing. The 30th Annual balloon race planned at the Jimmy Jones Park in Ottumwa was not gust away but grounded because of the weather.

Balloon race director Bill Clemmons stated the weather conditions stopped the fifty-six registered balloon pilots from going up in the air.

Clemmons stated that he races balloons too and he said the scientific reason the balloons could not fly was because a balloon has to fly five hundred feet above the city and the difficulty was the clouds were as low as two hundred feet that would have affected visibility and safety.

Balloon Sinusplasty Cures Chronic Sinusitis

More than 37 million Americans today undergo from sinusitis, paying hundreds of thousands of dollars each year on over the counter of medication. Now, an area hospital is carrying out a procedure, which might be a breath of fresh air for some patients.

A guide wire is placed into the sinus cavity where the window is obstructed. "Then a balloon is inserted through the cavity wire and it's overstated to dilate the window in the same manner than an angioplasty is done," Bibliowicz said. This permits doctors to do the process without removing tissue that means a quick recovery.

Centenarians on a hot air balloon hit record

Recently, the project head of the Shanghai Guinness World Records honored certificates to two of the oldest-living members of the society. The 104-year-old and 99-year-old centenarians broke the world record for "the oldest person in a hot air balloon," as they courageously sat down in a hot air balloon and took off into the air.

These two old people who have full-grown tea for a lifetime, were invited go on a hot air balloon ride. When the hot air balloons arrived up to more than twenty meters high in the sky, the two lively old people were imitating "Heavenly Ladies Strewing Flowers", and threw down the green tea. The take-off was recorded.

Balloons cause power outage in the East Bay

About 11,500 homes in El Cerrito, Albany and Berkeley were with no power last evening after Mylar balloons drifted into power lines, Pacific Gas & Electric officials stated.

The outages were first accounted about 7 p.m. and were ongoing at 9 p.m., with two locations in El Cerrito recognized as the sources.

The metallic balloons are popular as graduation balloons in season and outdoor celebrations could also cause surges and short circuits in the power lines.
